Had some fun, kinda difficult if you die a few times in a row 😛 when all the nice upgrades disappear and you have to fight with the airbubbles in a late stage so need to stay alert ;)

Nice game! I liked the enemy variety and the upgrade system, and the bubble float system was cool, though it would be nice if you could keep more of your upgrades on death. Maybe allowing diagonal movement would be improve things a little.

@Baconinvader: Diagonal movement should be possible. Did you use the arrow keys or WASD? Maybe your keyboard doesn't register all the inputs if you're also holding down space?

@Juutis maybe, I do have one of those less fancy keyboards

Cool game! I like the way the bubbles have an arc and start moving upwards after some time as an additional tactical element. really makes it a bit more original than just shooting forward.
the fishies also look good.

Great Game, really enjoyable and entertaining. I liked the upgrades and the idea of having bubbles at shots. The parallax effects lookg great and the music and sound effects add a nice touch. What really surprised me: The happy and upbeat music make this game feel really nice and welcoming. Well.. until I saw the gore effect. :D
I encountered a small bug in a bossbattle: Normally the boss adjusts his vertical position to the players vertical position. After dying and respawning the boss just stayed in one place, which made it rather easy to kill. But that is just a minor glitch.
Overall, solid execution!

I like it! :D The graphics and music are very pleasant and I liked the bubble particles a lot. And yes - the gore system :D That was a nice surprise
Also, it's really cool that you utilised the part outside of the water. It's fun jumping out and getting the upgrades, and that part was definitely not needed for the game - which is why I appreciate it even more.
Great work!

Gore-ious victory. Loved how much character you manged to get into the fish sprites, and appreciated how they exploded into chunks after being touched by airbubbles. You got quite a bit of variety in here for a jam shootemup, and I liked the upgrades.
For whatever reason there was no audio for me, so I didn't vote on that category.
Great entry, good amount of blood, would play again

Hey @voxel too bad you couldn't hear the sounds! If you are using Google Chrome, it's possible it has auto-muted the page. It looks like this:
You should be able to un-mute by clicking the speaker icon.

It's not a super original idea, but it's well executed. There's some pleasant music, and the graphics work fairly well together, except maybe the menu buttons. The parallax effect on the seaweed is a particularly nice touch.
The mechanic of bubbles moving first sideways, then up, makes for some interesting possibilities. However, the limited range means that dodging is often a lot easier than shooting.
There's a good variety of enemies and powerups, although they're not very balanced. The very dangerous-looking pufferfish, for example, can just be killed by staying in one place and tickling its belly from below.

No wonder all the other fish are mad at you, if your breath is bad enough to devastate the entire river eco-system :-p
The more comments there are, the more difficult it gets to say something new, but I did really like the simple little details in the menu's, and the satidfying way the 'jumping out of water' isn't an extra button but 'just works', and feels natural.
While I like the idea of the bubbles going up (and it does make aiming both easier and harder in a way) in practice I found myself just spamming the shoot button, going back and forth, and hoping for the best most of the time.

This is a nice twist to the bullet hell genre, with a basic attack that turned out interesting and hard to master - basically a reverse grenade launcher without the splash damage?
Anyway the gameplay was interesting but the pace & balancing could have used some iterations to really make the game shine. I managed to reach the final level with only my basic attack most of the time (I got little loot and lost it fast when I got some, making it harder in turn to kill & loot). I often got through by exploiting the blind spots of my enemies.
Despite the uneven challenge I found the game really pleasant to discover, with a lot of love & attention to detail when it comes to the graphics & animations (the anim on the first couple kills caught me by surprise lol), and a relaxing, catchy tune. Oh and there's also plenty of different enemies, like 7 or 8? That's a lot for a jam :)
Also it's cool to see the team experiment with various art styles throughout the jams.
